A former Mechanicsville grocery store operator, Sidney Sankot, 52, died July 18 at Memorial hospital in Marengo. Sankot was part owner and operator of the S and W Home and Auto store in Belle Plaine at the time of his death.

Sankot moved from Mechanicsville to Belle Plaine in 1945. He is survived by his wife and 2 brothers. Funeral services were held July 20 at St. Michael's Catholic church in Belle Plaine.
