Mrs. Lois M. Knowles, 52, of West Branch, died June 15 at Mercy hospital in Iowa City after a long illness.

She was born Jan. 7, 1908, at Hornick, the daughter of Walter and Blanch Willsey Piatt. For many years she lived in Iowa City before moving to West Branch in 1953.

She was a member of First Methodist church at West Branch and of the American Legion auxiliary.

Survivors include a son, Bruce Knowles, Glen Ellyn, Ill.; 3 sisters, Mrs. Mamie Thomas, West Branch; Mrs. Yetta Green, Jolley, and Mrs. Bernice Close, Des Moines; 2 brothers, W. H. Piatt, of La Mirada, Calif., and Eugene Piatt, of Bettendorf; 2 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Saturday at the West Branch Methodist church with the Rev. L. E. Bauman officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens at Iowa City.
