Mr. Eli Mitchell, who had been ill for some time, died at his home east of town Tuesday evening at ten o'clock.

Mr. Mitchell was born in Washington county, Pa., May 25th, 1813, hence would have been seventy-eight years old had he lived until the 25th of this month. He came to Iowa in the spring of 1863 and settled on the farm where he lived to the day of his death. He was the father of ten children, of whom only four are living, all grown to manhood and womanhood. His wife preceded him to their future home, having died February 28th, 1880. The deceased was one of the oldest and most respected citizens of Massillon township and will be greatly missed by many. The funeral occurred yesterday at 10 a.m. from the house, Rev. Downing officiating, and the remains were laid to rest in Massillon Center cemetery.
