Gus Horn, 63, for more than 32 years a Tipton Business man, suffered a heart attack at the Chicago airport Wednesday morning and died before he could receive medical attention.

Horn and his wife were returning from a two-week vacation trip to Los Angeles where they had visited their daughter, Mrs. George Richardson. Horn had just stepped out of the plane and was walking toward the airport building when he collapsed. He was taken into the building and a doctor called. Horn was dead when the doctor arrived.

He had been in ill health for about two years.

The son of Mr. and Mrs. John Horn, he was born on a farm a mile west of Sunbury in September, 1894. He was educated in the rural schools of the county and was graduated from Brown's business college in Davenport.

First employed as a carpenter, he served as Cedar county auditor from July 1, 1920 to March 1, 1923.

After his resignation as auditor, he worked in the clothing store operated by Ed Roehlk and in 1924 bought a half interest. He and C. H. Leabhart have operated the store together since 1926.

Mr. Horn was married to Norma Jons June 22, 1921. They are the parents of two daughters, Mrs. George (Margaret) Richardson, Los Angeles, Calif. and Mrs. Robert (Maxine) DeKock, Tipton, and one son, Robert, Wabash, Ind.

In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by six grandchildren and two brothers, Harry, who lives in California and Waldo, who lives near Durant.

He has served as past master of the Tipton Masonic lodge and is a member of the Shrine and Consistory at Davenport. He also served as treasurer of the Methodist church for more than 25 years.

Funeral services for Mr. Horn will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Methodist church with the Rev. Glen S. Hartong officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic cemetery.
