Isaac Hill Mathews, 89, a native of Tipton, died Thursday at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Fenstermaker in West Liberty, following a lingering illness.

Born Oct. 20, 1866, the son of Thomas E. and Nancy Hill Mathews, he was a life-long resident of Tipton and West Liberty.

Mr. Mathews attended rural school at Hebron and the Tipton schools. He lived in Nebraska and was engaged in business in Tipton before moving to a farm near West Liberty.

He married Martha A. McClung, March 9, 1891 in Tipton. He is a member of the Presbyterian church, the Masonic lodge No. 95 A.F. and A.M., the Royal Arch Masons and the Eastern Star.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Raymond Fenstermaker of West Liberty, and a sister, Augusta Mathews of Tipton. He was preceded in death by his wife and one son.

Services were held Sunday at the Snider funeral home, with the Rev. Denley Ganfield of the Presbyterian church in charge. Burial was in Oakridge cemetery.

Pallbearers were Lon Lewis, Leonard Agnew, Fred Ridenour, Hermon Jost, W. G. Eichenauer and Robert Brook. Those in charge of flowers were Mrs. Delbert Stamp, Helen Jack and Louise Kline.
