Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Sheets & Dahn funeral home, Tipton, for Clement Valentine (Valley) Willey, 67, who died at 8:30 a.m. Sunday at Mercy hospital, Davenport. Death followed a heart attack which he suffered two weeks ago.

Services was conducted by the Rev. Jerry Wolcott, DeWitt, with the Rev. Lamont C. Smith, of Bennett Methodist church offering prayers.

Burial was in Inland cemetery, Bennett.

Clement Valentine Willey, son of Clement M. and Abie Montz Willey, was born Feb. 14, 1889 at Ida Grove. He came to Bennett when he was eight years old, where he made his home with his aunt and uncle, Sadie and George Montz.

He was married to Ollie Mae Neeskern at the parsonage of the Methodist church, Davenport, April 3, 1913. To this union three children were born.

He attended school in Inland township and Davenport Business college. He attended the Bennett Methodist church all his life. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America and was secretary of the lodge and of the Inland cemetery association for a number of years, which offices he held at the time of his death. He was also secretary of the Bennett school board for many years.

He was manager of the Bennett Lumber Co., at the time of his death, which position he held for many years. He had been employed by the company for 43 years.

He is survived by his wife and three children; Virgil Dean, Phoenix, Ariz.; Mrs. Marjorie Maxine DeBeckere, Sherrard, Ill., and S/Sgt. Charles B. with the U.S. Air Force, Kenross, Mich.; five grandchildren, Sandra Kay, Michael Dean and Richard David DeBeckere and James Neal and Debra Ann Willey, also two sisters, Mrs. Arnold Zimmer, Tipton, and Mrs. Edna Parker, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

Pallbearers were: P. A. Hambright, Lorenz Goettsch, Edward Mowry, Walter Schneekloth, H. E. Buttolph and C. W. Pollock.
