6 December 1889 - Clarence Sun

DIED--Friday afternoon, Nov. 20th, 1889, Thomas D. Studervant, aged 55 years, 7 months and 23 days.

The brief paragraph above chronicles the journey hence to a land from which no traveler ev'r returns, of one of our most esteemed citizens. For years it was known to himself and friends that his health was not the best, and with a view of benefitting himself physically he spent the winter of 1887-88 in California. Whether the change was beneficial or not is a question, but he kept at his labors as a dentist up to a few weeks ago, often feeling quite unable to work, when he was taken down and confined to his bed, the result being his peaceful end of the journey of life. Dr. Studevant was a conscientious Christian man, one who lived out his profession in his daily life, always ready to assist in any worthy cause and he will be greatly missed in his business associations as well as in the M.E. church, of which society he was an official member. The funeral occurred last Sunday afternoon from the M.E. church, Rev. Manning officiating assisted by Revs. Downing and Keeler, and was attended by a large concourse of people. The Masonic and G.A.R. organizations, of which he was a member attended in a body, each one denoting by their presence his worth as a man and brother.
