Alfred W. Underwood, 66, Springdale, died Tuesday at University hospital in Iowa City following a brief illness. He had been a resident of Springdale 11 years.

The son of William and Sarah Underwood, he was born in England, Oct. 29, 1889. In 1916, he was married to Elizabeth Pendergast.

He had been a salesman for the I. C. Business Systems, with his territory located in Texas.

He is survived by his wife, a son, William, Armarillo, Texas; a daughter at home, and two sisters, Mrs. Lucy Quayle and Mrs. Esther Bradshaw, in England, and three grandchildren.
