Funeral services for Oscar L. Chapman, 80, were held at the First Evangelical United Brethren church in Muscatine Saturday with the Rev. J. Arthur Eveland in charge. Burial was in Cranston cemetery at Muscatine.

Chapman, who had made his home with his son, Lomax, in Tipton, died at the State hospital in Oakdale Wednesday, Aug. 7, following an illness of several months.

He was born in Muscatine Feb. 21, 1877, the son of Charles Wesley and Nancy Chasteen Chapman, and lived most of his life in Muscatine and Cedar counties.

He was married to Maude P. Meeker April 4, 1906.

Before coming to Tipton 12 years ago, he was custodian of the First Evangelical United Brethren church in Muscatine.

He is survived by three sons, Lomax V., Tipton; Vance W., Muscatine, and Ward L., Tacoma, Wash.; three daughters, Mrs. Lloyd Dutro, Olin, and Mrs. Chester Corder and Mrs. Earl Robertson, Muscatine; 15 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, two brothers, and two sisters.
