Milo E. Phelps, 71, died Friday at University hospitals, Iowa City, following an illness of several years.

Last rites were held Sunday at the Sheets and Dahn funeral home with Elder U. J. Fike officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Milo Earl Phelps, son of George and Berthemia Fairchild Phelps, was born at Springdale Aug. 25, 1885. He was married to Laura Domer Sept. 5, 1917, at Springdale.

He received his education in the Springdale school and spent most of his life in the Tipton community where he had farmed two miles west of town. He was also a livestock dealer for more than 25 years.

He is survived by his wife, three sons: Leslie and George, Tipton, and Milo Jr., Northbrook, Ill.; a daughter, Mrs. David (Evelyn) Shima, Hopkinton; three daughters by a previous marriage, Mrs. Ralph Martin, Des Moines; Mrs. Frank Chrencik, Cleveland, Ohio, and Mrs. Jesse Overland, Jewell; eight grandchildren, two brothers, James and Carl, and a sister, Mrs. Edith Anderson.
