Funeral services for Jennie Cameron Colby, 77, who died March 26 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Marjorie and Leon Conway, after a lingering illness, were held March 29, in the Methodist church in Mechanicsville. The Rev. Eugene Miller officiated, and burial was in Rose Hill cemetery.

Pallbearers were Howard Platner, Merle Clifton, Harry West, Phillip Ward, Walter Kiehl and Frank Stelzer.

Jennie Cameron Colby, daughter of J. Derell and Susan Culp Cameron, was born in Cedar county Jan. 28, 1880. Most of her life was spent in and around Mechanicsville.

She was baptized and raised a Presbyterian, although in later years her interests were in the Methodist church.

Feb. 29, 1904, she was married to William C. Colby who preceded her in death in November, 1948. To this union were born three children: Wilbur, Mrs. Ora (Violet) Hoy, and Mrs. Leon (Marjorie) Conway, all of Mechanicsville.

Other survivors include a daughter by a previous marriage, Mrs. Dora Mitchell, Hot Springs, Ark,; six grandchildren, Derell and LeRoy Colby, John, William and Janice Hoy, Kathleen and Billy Conway, and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, and three brothers.

Out-of-town relatives who attended the services were Derell Colby, Houston, Tex.; Byron Baker, Mr. and Mrs. Willard Lynn, Coon Rapids; Mrs. Gladys Sylverter, Glidden.
