Funeral services for William Dorsey Nesmith, 73, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Peterseim and Dye funeral home. The Rev. Howard Dukelow will be in charge. Burial will be in the Wellman cemetery.
Pallbearers are Alvin Johnson, Albert Conrad, Albert Kautz, Herald Eves, Lance Shilling, and Forest Hougland.
Nesmith died at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday following an illness of three months.
The son of John and Nancy Nesmith, he was born Sept. 2, 1883, near Oxford, in Johnson county. He was married to Erma Booth Aug, 29, 1911, at Iowa City.
A sheet metal worker, he came to Tipton in 1918 to work for Dean and Hendrickson Hardware. He later purchased the store and continued as a sheet metal worker until his health failed.
He is survived by his wife, a son, John T., Muscatine, and a grandson, William D. Nesmith.
