Funeral services for Albert J. Hinkhouse, 78, retired Cedar county farmer, were held Monday at the Presbyterian church in West Branch with the Rev. Denley Ganfield officiating. Burial was in Oakridge cemetery at West Liberty.
Hinkhouse died Saturday at Mercy hospital, Iowa City, following a long illness.
The son of State Rep. R. W. and Anna Smiley Hinkhouse, he was born in Sugar Creek township Dec. 16, 1878. He was married to Evelyn Cole Dec. 23, 1904.
Hinkhouse farmed in Rochester and Iowa townships before retiring 17 years ago. He was a former president of the White Pigeon Insurance company and a member of the West Liberty school board.
He is survived by two sons, Elmer, Cedar Rapids, and Nevin, West Liberty; a daughter, Mrs. Hazel Crabtree, San Diego, Calif.; two brothers, George and Fred, West Liberty; three sisters, Mrs. Verda Mountain, Des Moines; Mrs. Nellie Olberch, St. Louis, Mo., and Dr. Myrtle Hinkhouse, West Liberty, and seven grandchildren.
