Funeral services for Gale Frink, 67, a native of Tipton, were held at the Methodist church in Tama. Burial was in the Masonic cemetery at Tipton.
Frink, who had lived in Tama since 1941, died at his home at 9:30 Sunday. Tama County Coroner Harvey Jones said death was due to a self-inflicted bullet wound.
The son of Spencer G. and Blanche Dean Frink, he was born in Tipton Dec. 4, 1892. He graduated from Tipton high school and Iowa State college and was manager of a cattle ranch in Montana until he entered the army in 1917. He was commissioned a second lieutenant.
He was married to Helen Deardorf of Tipton Sept. 21, 1918. The couple farmed near Tipton until 1923 when they moved to Lisbon where he helped build and managed the Lisbon Co-op Creamery. In 1934 he became a cattle dealer in partnership with John Meyers of Lisbon.
In 1941 he moved to Tama where he began his own cattle business.
He was a member of the Methodist church at Tama, The American Legion and was a founder and first commander of the American Legion post in Tipton. He was also a director of the Lisbon bank while he was a resident of that community.
He is survived by his wife and 5 children, Mrs. Wilhelm (Marilyn) Jordan, Petersberg, Alaska; Mrs. John R. (Peggy) Humphreys, Santa Fe,. N.M.; Dr. Lynn Frink, Reinbeck; Dr. Richard Frink, Rochester, Minn. and Mrs. Gary (Helen) Strine, Boulder, Colo. and 9 grandchildren.
