Mrs. Charlotte A. Ketelsen, 79, of Iowa City, a former Tipton resident, died Dec. 10 at Mercy hospital in Iowa City. She had resided in Iowa City since 1925.
Born at Tipton June 13, 1880, she was a daughter of William and Mary Whitson Aldrich. She was graduated from Tipton high school. In March, 1902, she was married to Phillip D. Ketelsen.
The couple resided in Tipton where her husband was associated with a bank until going to Iowa City 34 years ago. Her husband then became associated with the William Horrabin Contracting Co.
Mrs. Ketelsen was a member of the Presbyterian church and church women's organization, Jessamine chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, the Friendship circle of Kings Daughters and the Elks ladies.
Mrs. Ketelsen also was active in Parent-Teacher association work both in Iowa City and Tipton and served on the state board of the organization.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Donald B. Durain, Skokie, Ill, one son, Karl Ketelsen of Iowa City, and three grandchildren. Mrs. Ketelsen was the last surviving member of a family of 13 children.
Funeral services were held Saturday at Iowa City with the Rev. Hewison Pollock, pastor of the First Presbyterian church officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.
