Funeral services for Fred Bauer Jr., 51, formerly of Bennett, were held Sunday in Tipton with burial in Inland cemetery at Bennett. Bauer died June 12 at Veterans hospital, Detroit, Mich.

The Rev. Arthur Stratemeyer officiated at the services and Laura Geller was organist. Pallbearers, members of the Gary-Whalen Post American Legion, were Leonard C. Port, Jack Handley, Ray Potter, Herbert C. Ford, Jack Henderson and George W. Thordsen.

He was born on a farm near Bennett March 20, 1908, the son of Fred and Alvina Bauer and attended Cedar county schools. He served during World War 2 and was stationed in India with a bomber squadron. Following the war he made his home in Detroit, Mich., and was employed in a U.S. post office and the Ford Motor Co.

Survivors include 5 sisters, Mrs. Hugo Rixe, Mrs. Fred Boettcher and Mrs. Harry Theiring, all of Tipton; Mrs. Albert Wulf and Mrs. Hugo LaMaack, Durant and one brother, John Bauer, Davenport; nieces and nephews at Bennett and Durant.

His parents, one brother and one sister preceded him in death.
