Services for John Wendt, 77, of Durant, were held Monday in Durant. Burial was in the Durant cemetery.

Mr. Wendt died May 30 in his home in Durant after an extended illness.

Born in Germany, he married Caroline Deckert Dec. 5, 1907, in Lester. He had been engaged in farming.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Otto Schnack, Bennett; one son, Harvey, Stockton; five grandchildren; three brothers, Henry, Sioux Falls, S.D., Frank and Gustav, both of Davenport, and five sisters, Mrs. Mary Warn, Marion Junction, S.D., Mrs. Rose Voss, Tipton, Mrs. Adolph Ruhberg, Durant, Mrs. Lloyd Deaver, West Liberty, and Mrs. John Sothmann, Davenport. One sister preceded him in death.
