Funeral services for Lewis V. (Lew) Johnson, were held Wednesday in Tipton with the Rev. Clifford Wolfe of Friends church in West Branch officiating. Burial was in the West Branch cemetery.
Mr. Johnson died Monday afternoon following an extended illness.
He was born in Galena, Kan., March 16, 1894, and was married to Clara Christiansen Feb. 20, 1924, at Iowa City.
He was a restaurant operator in Tipton for about 10 years, first what is now the Rapid Maid café and later a café where Modern Cleaners is located.
He is survived by his wife, 2 daughters, Mrs. Paul (Mary Ellen) Hauser, Kalona, and Mrs. Lawrence (Wanda Lou) Youngs, Tipton; a sister, Mrs. Ralph Gibson, Columbus, Kan.; a brother, Lawrence J., Sedalia, Mo.; and 4 grandchildren.
