Funeral services for Peter E. Wingert, 77, were held in Tipton, Aug. 24, with the Rev. Howard Dukelow in charge. Burial was in the Masonic cemetery. Rose Croix services were given by C. A. Bell from the DeMolay consistory at Clinton, assisted by Charles C. Behr.

Mr. Wingert died Aug. 22 at Mercy hospital in Cedar Rapids.

The son of John and Josephine Wingert, he was born on a York Prairie farm near Bennett Feb. 4, 1882. His early life was spent on the farm.

In 1899 he moved with his parents to Tipton, where he lived until Feb. 22, 1906 when he was married to Mae Hutcheson of Springdale. They lived on a farm near Tipton.

In 1935 they moved to Tipton where he was engaged in the insurance business before his retirement. He was active in community affairs and served as a member of the board of directors of the Tipton Community school. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and a lifelong member of the Methodist church.

He was a member of Cedar Lodge, A.F. and A.M., Tipton, DeMolay Consistory, Clinton and Kaaba Shrine, Davenport.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Lucille Farnum and a grandson, Allan Farnum. He was preceded in death by his wife, and a brother and sister.
