Funeral services for Frank J. Ball, 63, were held Monday with the Rev. Arthur Stratemeyer in charge. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Ball died unexpectedly at Veterans hospital in Iowa City where he had been a patient. He entered the hospital for a leg ailment. His death was due to a heart attack.

The son of Fred and Anna Ball, he was born at Big Rock April 12, 1896. He was married to Ida M. Eggert Sept. 7, 1922, at Lowden.

Ball had lived in Tipton since 1941 when he moved here from Lowden. He was custodian of the Cedar county courthouse from January, 1941, to September, 1954. Since that time he had worked at Honeymead and for other Tipton business places.

He enlisted in the army May 27, 1918, and went overseas Aug. 9, 1918, and served with the machine gun company of the 349th infantry. He returned to the United States May 28, 1919, and was discharged June 10, 1919.

He was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his wife; 3 daughters, Mrs. Otis (Leora) Geadelmann, Mrs. Marvin (Frances) Ford, and Nancy, all of Tipton; 4 sons, Frank, Hoopeston, Ill., William, Delevan, Wis., Ralph, Hampton, and Dale, Lyton, and a brother, William, Tipton.
