Clifford R. Rasley, 63, cashier at the old Farmers & Merchants Savings bank in Tipton for 16 years, died Tuesday at University hospital in Iowa City after a lingering illness. He was head cashier at the University of Iowa business office.

Mr. Rasley became an S.U.I. cashier in 1931. Prior to that he had worked as cashier for the Tipton bank that occupied the present location of the First National bank. He also worked in a Cedar Rapids bank for 4 years.

He was born at Cedar Rapids Jan. 19, 1895, the son of Harry R. and Mary Montgomery Rasley. He entered the banking business in Cedar Rapids in 1911.

Mr. Rasley was married in Tipton to Mabel M. Wolf in 1918. He was a member of the Methodist church, the Masonic lodge, Lions club, the American Legion and the Iowa Senior Golf association. He was active in Boy Scout affairs. During the first World war, he was in the army.

Survivors include his widow and two sons, Richard A., Iowa City, and James R., Des Moines.

Funeral services will be conducted today at 2 p.m. at Beckmann's funeral home in Iowa City with the Rev. L. L. Dunnington, pastor of the First Methodist church, officiating.

Burial will be in the Masonic cemetery at Tipton. The family requests no flowers; a memorial fund is being established, proceeds of which will go to the cancer fund.
