Funeral services for Howard Edward Horn, 84, a Cedar county official for 23 years, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Tipton Methodist church with the Rev. A. C. Long in charge. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Mr. Horn died Monday morning at the Utopia nursing home following a heart attack. He had been in ill health for several years.

The son of James B. and Mary Jeffers Horn, he was born July 23, 1874, in Cedar county and spent all his life in the Tipton community. He never married.

Mr. Horn served Cedar county as deputy clerk of the district court from Jan. 1, 1907, to Dec. 31, 1924. From Jan. 1, 1925, he was clerk of the district court, retiring from office after 6 years Dec. 31, 1930.

Mr. Horn was an Odd Fellow for 50 years, a Mason for 43 years, and a member of the Methodist church and the Rebekah lodge.

He is survived by a sister, Mrs. E. C. Mitchell, Tipton; a nephew, Carroll Mitchell, living in Missouri, and a niece, Mrs. Harry (Melba) Overman, Tipton.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Homer W.
