Funeral services for Earl Austin McLain, 75, were held Tuesday with the Rev. A. C. Long in charge. Burial was in the South Bethel cemetery.

Pallbearers were Loyd Nebergall, Merle Woode, Cyril Olson, Lawrence Brown, Wilbur and Earl Eggert.

Mr. McLain died Sunday night in the Woode Nursing home in Tipton where he had made his home for more than 18 months.

The son of Michell and Frances Dilliand McLain, he was born March 19, 1883, in Cedar county and his early life was spent in the South Bethel community.

Oct. 31. 1905, he was married to Mary Olson. For a few years he was engaged in farming after which he was employed in Cedar Rapids until his return to Tipton in 1957.

He attended the South Bethel Methodist church as a young man and was a past member of the Moose lodge in Tipton.

He is survived by seven children; a son, Benjamin; six daughters, Mrs. Stella Barnes, Mrs. Eva Brown, and Mrs. Marjorie Eggert, all of Tipton; Mrs. Nola Eggert, Bennett; Mrs. Mabel Morehouse, Chicago, and Mrs. Elsie Kupka, La Grange, Ill.

He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
