Funeral service for John F. Ruchotzke were conducted at Sheets & Dahn funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Tues., December 13, with the Rev. Harold Kratzat officiating, and interment was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Mr. Ruchotzke was fatally injured Saturday evening about 6:00 p.m. west of Tipton. He was returning to Tipton after visiting a son at Shueyville. His car left the road and he was found badly injured in a field near the Nate Sayre farm. The Sayres called for the ambulance and he was taken to the St. Luke's hospital in Cedar Rapids.

Cause of the accident has not been determined, and apparently no other car was involved.

John Frederick Ruchotzke was born April 13, 1901, in Cedar county, the son of Sophia L. and John Ruchotzke. He passed away at the age of 54 years in St. Luke's hospital in Cedar Rapids.

He was a lifelong resident of this community. He was confirmed in the Evangelical and Reformed faith.

On March 29, 1923, he was united in marriage to Miss Wilma Gehrls at Lowden, Iowa. Five children were born to this union: Mrs. L. C. (Sally) Van Waus, Merlin and Roger, all of Cedar Rapids; Dale of Shueyville, and Donald of Oakridge, Tennessee.

He was a very kind and loving husband and a very thoughtful father. He leaves many friends to mourn his passing. His life was dedicated to helpful service for others.

He is survived by his wife, five children and five grandchildren, one sister Mary Abel of McCausland, three brothers, William of Oxford Junction, and August and Henry of Lowden; also many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Walter, and a sister Frieda.
