The death of Mrs. Ella Kinsey, widow of L. C. Kinsey, occurred at her home on North Fourth street on Tuesday evening. Funeral services will be held at the home at two o'clock this (Thursday) afternoon.

17 October 1929 - West Branch Times

Ella A. Thompson Kinsey was born near Wilmington, Del. Aug. 12, 1844. She was united in marriage to Lewis C. Kinsey at Kennett Square, Penn., Oct. 20, 1870. He preceded her in death two years. To this union were born eight children. A daughter, Ethel, passed away in childhood and a daughter, Maud Kinsey Pilkington, died Sept. 29, 1925. Six children remain: Grace Fawcett of Pasadena, Calif.; Fern Cavin of Iowa City; Pearl Irey of West Liberty; Clifford and Arthur Kinsey, and Inez Burns of West Branch and vicinity. She also leaves fourteen grand children and five greatgrandchildren.

She quietly passed away at her home in West Branch at nine o'clock Oct. 8, 1929, at the age of 85 years. During her last illness she expressed to her daughter, Inez, who has so faithfully and tenderly cared for her mother for three years, a desire that death might come soon.

A long life has come to a final ending after many severe attacks of illness within the last few years. She passed down the last slope filled with ambition to care for herself, as much as possible, hoping not to become a burden to any one. She leaves to her children a heritage of a devoted life to her home and family, meeting the vicissitudes of time bravely, calmly and patiently.

Funeral services were held at the home Thursday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. H. D. Green. Interment was in the cemetery at West Branch.
