The death of Bracken Negus occurred Tuesday morning at the home of his step-son, Arthur Bishop, at Muscatine. He had suffered a slight stroke in the early summer and his health had rapidly failed since that time.

He is survived by one sister, Mrs. J. C. Stoufer, of Pasadena, Calif., and funeral arrangements are pending until her arrival, Saturday morning.

Bracken Negus was born near Atalissa, Iowa, October 8, 1855 and passed away on the 20th day of July, 1929, at the home of his step-son, Arthur Bishop, in Muscatine, Iowa, where he was kindly cared for in his last illness.

He was married to Alice Bishop of Muscatine, Iowa, she having departed this life some years ago.

He was the son of Elwood and Susan Negus, who were early settlers of this part of Iowa.

His parents, three sisters and two brothers preceded him in death and lie at rest in the cemetery at Springdale, Iowa. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Lizzie Negus Stoffer, of Pasadena, Calif., and his step-son, Arthur Bishop, of Muscatine, Iowa.

He had resided in this community for many years and was trusted and respected by all who knew him.

Services were conducted at the Friends church at West Branch by the pastor, Guy W. Harvey. Burial was made at Springdale.
