Valmore Flatters died at 2 p.m. Wednesday at his home, 1840 West Seventh street, Davenport. He was a pioneer resident of Downey.

Mr. Flatters was born in 1866 in Downey, the son of Mr. and Mrs. David Flatters, pioneer settlers. He received his primary education in the schools near his home and later studied law in the offices of James O'Grady, of Waseca county, Minn.

He graduated from the Commercial Law school at Denver and afterward took a course in mineralogy at Salt Lake City. For many years he was engaged in mining, prospecting and railroad construction work in the west.

In 1900 he was stationed at the Philippine Islands with the U. S. army and later returned to Downey, where he resided until 1910, when he went to Davenport. He was married in 1914 to Miss Milda Hockmuth at Trenton, Mo.

Surviving besides his wife are one brother, Arthur of Davenport; and his stepmother, Mrs. Lorinda Flatters of Davenport.
