J. L. Bowman passed away at the family home in Cedar county on Dec. 24 at 11:30 o'clock. The cause of his death was valvular disease of the heart from which he has suffered for the past year. For the last two months he has been confined to his home. He was an old and highly respected citizen and loved by all who knew him. He had lived on his farm in Cedar county for forty years, except a short time that he was in the grocery business at West Liberty. The deceased was past eighty-two years of age, and is survived by two sons and one daughter, his wife preceeding him in death a few years ago.

The funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 26, at 11 o'clock from the residence, and interment was made in the Oakridge cemetery.
