Susie Ellen Jack, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. C. Jack, was born near Oasis, Iowa, Jan. 14, 1893, and died at the home of her parents near Centerdale, Feb. 20, 1908, aged 15 years, 1 month and 6 days.

In the winter of 1895 the family removed from Oasis to the farm east of Centerdale where they have resided since that time, and where Susie grew to young womanhood. All her early school days she spent in the Centerdale school, where she was always a favorite with teachers and schoolmates. Last September she entered the West Branch High School, where she soon proved her ability as a scholar and her genuineness of character.

While she had never made a public profession of her faith, she gave good evidence in her private conversation and in her manner of life of a vital faith in Christ.

She was quiet and gentle, loving, careful and thoughtful beyond her years. Though called home in the morning of life, her young soul has left an influence upon all who knew her which will live long, and from the school room and the community at large the many who feel that they have lost a true friend, will deeply sympathize with the stricken family.

Funeral services were held in the West Branch Presbyterian church Sunday afternoon, Feb. 23, conducted by the pastor, Rev. W. A. Montgomery, and the body was laid to rest in the West Branch cemetery.
