Mrs. Milton Lewis died Feb. 17, 1906, at her home in Downey, Iowa.

Eliza J. Gregg, daughter of Hanson and Sarah Ann Gregg was born in Belmont county, Ohio, December 21, 1841. In 1855 she came with her parents to Iowa and grew to womanhood on the Gregg homestead one and a half miles east of Downey. She was united in marriage to Milton Lewis in 1861. Five children were born to this union: Edward, Mrs. Frank Stagg, Mrs. John Shrader, Arthur and Fred.

Mrs. Lewis was the eldest in a family of four brothers and three sisters, who, together, with the aged husband and children and a large circle of friends, mourn the loss of a loving sister, a faithful wife and friend and a wise and tender mother.
