31 October 1918 - West Branch Times

That disease, which has almost become a scourge, Spanish Influenza, claimed another victim on Thursday evening, Oct. 24th, when Mrs. John Wren passed almost suddenly away.

This was an awful shock to her husband and family for Mr. Wren was very ill at the time. The family had entertained hopes for Mrs. Wren's recovery and the entire community was deeply grieved when we learned of her decease.

Mrs. Wren was born near West Branch on Feb. 26, 1885, and died at the early age of 33 years and 8 months. Thus in the morning of her life she leaves her husband and three children Tacie, Lucile and Mervin, and her father, Mr. Frank Albin, of Pasadena, Calif., who on the receipt of the news of his daughters death, immediately came and was able to attend the funeral, and deeply mourn her loss.

Mrs. Wren (Grace) will be sadly missed, not only in her home, but also among the people of the community. Being of an extemely cheerful dispostion she endeared herself to a host of friends. Her loss will be keenly felt in the Methodist church, where for twenty years she was a consistent member.

In order to comply with the regulations of the Board of Health, funeral services were conducted at the cemetery by her pastor, Rev. G. J. Chalice, assisted by Messrs. P.V.N. Myers and Geo. K. Blunt and Mesdames B. A. Gill and M. W. Munger as singers, on Tuesday forenoon, Oct. 29th. The floral decorations were many and very beautiful.
