HOME BOY KILLED IN ACTION
Private Ross Mullison of This Place Makes Supreme Sacrifice With Allies In France

Mrs. Ross Mullison received the sad news Saturday afternoon that her husband, Ross Mullison, had been killed in action Sept. 27th, in the trenches on the Western front in France.

Mr. Mullison was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Mullison and was born near Shenandoah, Iowa, June 9, 1884, being 34 years, 4 months and 18 days of age at the time of his death. He was married to Miss Clara Hunter of this place at Iowa City, Nov. 30, 1904, and to this union four children were born. They moved to West Branch in 1916, where Mr. Mullison was employed in the P.C. Clarke barber shop until the time of his enlistment.

Ross left this place in March, 1917, for Windsor, Canada, where on March 31st he enlisted in the Scotish regiment 241st Battalion of the Canadian Forces, later being transferred to the 15th Battalion. He had been in active service in the trenches on the Western front for the past year and was never wounded but was gassed on two different occasions.

Besides his wife, he leaves to mourn their loss, four children--Charles aged 11 years, Ethel aged 10, Elroy aged 9 and Ida aged 2 years and 9 months; a father and one brother in Colorado, a sister in Montana and one in Missouri, also three brothers in the U.S. service, one of whom is now overseas.

Mrs. Mullison and children have the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community and can seek consolation in the fact that Ross made the supreme sacrifice in the cause of his country.
