Elwood Fawcett was born near Chesterfield, Ohio, April 10, 1845, and died at his home, two miles south of Springdale, Iowa, Sept. 16, 1905. His parents were Samuel and Mary Ann Fawcett. He was one of eight children two having died in infancy, and one sister in middle life.

At the age of seven years, he came with his parents to Springdale. He was married to Sara Worthington, May 15, 1874, in Ohio, coming immediately to the farm which has been their home ever since. Three daughters were born in this home, namely, Bertha, wife of Albert Millett; Blanch and Edna, who reside in the home with their mother.

For a goodly number of years brother Fawcett was a consistant member of the Methodist Episcopal church, taking an active interest in its work. For several years he had been in declining health.

Nearly two years ago he suffered a paralytic stroke, from which he never recovered. He remained in the home under the kind and loving ministrations of his own family until the last. He has passed to that country which is free from all bodily weakness and suffering. May God comfort those who remain and bring them all to meet again where there is no death or farewells.

The funeral service was conducted by the pastor, Rev. W. B. Davis, assisted by Rev. F. M. Harrington, at Springdale on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 17th. The service was largely attended. The burial was at the Springdale cemetery.
