Mary S. Mosher was born near Mt. Gilend, Morrow county, Ohio, Oct. 7, 1842, at the age of ten years, she, with her parents and other children, moved to Iowa and settled in Muscatine county, near where the town of West Liberty was just in its beginning. During the years that followed, her mental and spiritual life developed normally and a character of rare strength and beauty was built up. The "corner stone" of her "life building" was her faith in Christ, and she fashioned her life after the pattern which was shown her in her mount of vision.

At the age of 25 years she became the wife of Blackburn Vore of Fredericktown, Ohio, and a true mother to his five motherless children. After one year spent in his Ohio home, they established a new home one mile east of West Branch, Iowa. Four other children were born to them, of whom only one son lived to maturity.

Always a member of Friends church, she gave the cause of Christ her loyal and constant support. She loved the house of worship and was very rarely absent from her place therein. Since the death of her husband in 1903, she has lived much of the time with or near her children, in various places, always making her presence a benediction. Lately, in failing health, she was brought back to West Branch, where, in the home of a daughter, on the 8th day of March, 1918, she entered into rest.

Six children remain--Wm. T. and Jesse W. Vore of Berkely, Cal., Ruth Forman and Rachel V. Hill of West Branch, Sara V. Lewis of Los Angeles, Calif., and Henry M. Vore of Grabow, Louisanna. These, with her two brothers and two sisters, her grandchildren and a host of friends, possess, in her life of humility and faith, a priceless heritage.
