3 October 1918 - West Branch Times

Phoebe Marinda Pittsenbarger was born in Versailles, Darke county, Ohio, Feb. 1, 1840. She was one of seven children, all of whom have passed away except one brother in Ohio.

She was married in 1856 to Amos Wisener. In 1863 they came west and first settled in Mechanicsville, after which they moved to Tipton, which was her home until failing health compelled her to give up her home and she came to West Branch to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. W. W. Wright.

She was the mother of ten children, all of whom are living except one daughter, who passed away in 1901. Her husband preceded her in death eight years ago. Soon after coming to Tipton she joined the Lutheran church.

Her remaining children who are present today are: Mrs. W. W. Wright of West Branch; Mrs. Nancy Walters, Mrs. Sadie Harman, Mrs. Mary Madson and Ernest Wisener, all of Tipton, and Mrs. Pearl Clay of Cedar Rapids. Besides these she leaves 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Her last illness was of short duration. All that loving hands could do for her was done cheerfully but of no avail. A voice said, "Come Up Higher", and on Friday morning, Sept. 27th she passed to her great reward.

Services were conducted at the home of W. W. Wright on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 o'clock, by Rev. G. J. Chalice of the Methodist church. Interment was at Tipton.
