DIED.--At the residence of her son Samuel J. Irey, at Centerdale, REBECCA H. IREY, aged seventy-eight years.

One by one our friends are passing over that mystic river, where the tides all sweep to the shore. Aunt Rebecca Irey was loved and respected by all who knew her. Cheerful, affectionate and kind, with a warm respect for the thoughts of others, even when they differed materially from her own. In the years that we have known her, her influence has been felt and known. We shall miss her when we pass the door where she so often welcomed us. We shall miss her counsel, her words of encouragement and love. But those words will brighten in our memory as time sweeps onward, and we, too, are descending the "steep of time." The autumn of life found her with her work all completed, her toil-worn hands quietly folded, and her eyes almost seeing the beautiful harbor of rest that awaited her weary feet. The tears that we shed over her grave are selfish ones, for although her body is resting in the city of the dead, her soul is resting, and her life is just begun in that city of eternal love.
