30 March 1916 - West Branch Times

Margaret Matilda Worrell was born March 14, 1888, near Solon, Iowa, and died Sunday, March 19, 1916, aged 28 years. She was married to Frank W. Slach April 18, 1910, and to this union was born four children, three sons and one daughter. The oldest, Francis, aged 5 years; Clarence, aged 3 years; Lorena, 1 year and 6 months; the youngest, a baby boy a week old.

There remains to mourn their loss, her husband, three sons and one daughter, father, mother, five brothers and three sisters, besides many relatives and friends. She was a faithful wife and a loving mother, having a sunny disposition. She was always happier when doing something to help others--thinking of their comfort rather than her own. There is no one that would appreciate anything done for as she did. Her death comes as a blow to all and seems unusually sad, she being so young and happy, always looking on the bright side of everything. Even in her last sickness, which lasted a few days, she was cheerful and patient up to the last. She thought the world of her family and all of her relatives and friends. She will be missed in our community more than mere words can say. She passed away at her home seven miles north of West Branch.

The funeral was held Tuesday morning at 9:00 o'clock. A large number of people were present, the church being filled with relatives and friends, who thus testified to the love and esteem they had for her. She was buried at St. Bridget cemetery. The services were conducted by Rev. Father T. Mahany. May her soul rest in peace.
