Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Vincent were called to Cedar Rapids yesterday by the death of her mother, Mrs. Rudolf Stroppel which occurred that morning. Mrs. Stroppel had apparently risen as usual, and members of her family found her dead in the kitchen. No further particulars have been received at this time. Mrs. Stroppel was a long time resident of this community and her sudden death is shocking to many friends here.

Mary Rist, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Rist was born March 25, 1859, in Baden, Germany.

She was united in marriage to Rudolf Stoppel May, 1880. To this union were born 8 children, all of whom are living but Mary, who died at infancy.

They came to the United States in the spring of 1883 and settled in Indianapolis, Ind. They came to Cedar county in the fall of 1883. They lived in Cedar Valley, where her husband was forman in the shops at the stone quarry of E.J.C. Bealer for 17 years. They moved from there to their farm near West Branch, where they lived till the fall of 1919. From there they moved to Cedar Rapids where she lived until her death.

Her husband died June 7, 1925.

She was the last of her family of two brothers, one sister and father and mother. Mrs. Stroppel was a kind and loving mother to her family and all who knew her. Always willing to do for others, forgetful of her own heartaches. She will be greatly missed in her home and community.

She died at her home at 1017 N 17th St. E. at 7:30 a.m., Nov. 30, following a sudden attack of heart trouble.

Funeral services were held at the Immaculate Conception church Friday, Dec. 2, at 9:30 a.m., where her many friends and relatives gathered to pay their last respects. Father J. J. Tommey officiated. Burial took place at the Mt. Calvary cemetery.

Those left to mourn her loss are her children, Thomas, George, Charles and Clara of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. W. H. Diehl, Cheyenne, Wyo.; John Stroppel, Powell, S. Dak.; Mrs. W. M. Vincent of West Branch.
