17 September 1885 - The Local Record

CHARLES MEADOWS for eleven years a citizen of this place, died on the 12 of September, 1885 at 8:15 P.M., of lung fever.

For many years this dear brother has been a sufferer, often confined to his room; but being of an energetic and determined disposition, he was often on our streets and at his work when it seemed almost beyond his natural strength. He was a kind and sympathizing friend to all who came within the range of his social life. Those who knew him best loved him most. His last sickness was of short duration, and his words and works showed that for some time he thought his departure was near at hand. His hope was alone in Christ's blood and Righteousness. He quietly passed away in full hope of eternal life.

The funeral services took place at his residence at 9 A.M. on the 14th. The sermon was preached from Isaiah 38-10, 11, 12 and 48-10, which were selected by himself.

His remains were laid away in the family burying grounds near Cedar Bluffs.

He leaves a loving wife and four children, who wish to express their heartfelt thanks to their many friends who bestowed so great sympathy and care in thier hour of deep sorrow.
