Lucinda Stillion was born in Guernsey county, Ohio, Dec. 27, 1847, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Clyde Barnes, in West Branch, Iowa, Monday, Feb. 21, 1916, at the age of 68 years, 1 month and 25 days.

She grew to womanhood in the home of her parents, assisting with the cares of the home, being a member and an active worker in the Middlebourne M. E. church. She came to Iowa in the spring of 1885 and was married in December of the same year to Gottfried Kern of Columbus Junction, Iowa, Mrs. Barnes being their only child. Mr. Kern being a member of the Reformed church, she joined with him soon after their marriage and has since been an active and loyal supporter of that church. Mr. Kern died June 9, 1907, since which time Mrs. Kern made her home with her daughter. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Stillion of Guernsey county, Ohio.

The funeral services were held from the M.E. church at West Branch, Ia., Thursday, Feb. 24, at 2:30 p.m. Rev. C. E. Ewing of Cone, a former pastor, assisted by Rev. W. H. Mitchell, conducted the services.

Mrs. J. R. Smith, a stepdaughter and George and son, Harry, Clarence and Frank Kern, stepsons, all of Columbus Junction, attended the services.
