Funeral services for Herman Wendt, 79, Mechanicsville, were held Sept. 11 at Horner Funeral Home in Mechanicsville, with the Rev. Dick Harberts officiating. The organist was Mrs. Wayne Brown and vocalist was Mrs. Floyd Siver. Pallbearers were Robert Klinkkammer, George Rekemeyer, Merle Federson, Robert Wendt, Roger Beuthien and James Burgess. Burial was in the Rose Hill cemetery, Mechanicsville.

Mr. Wendt died Sept. 8 at the Community Hospital in Anamosa.

He was born Aug. 15, 1904 in Cedar county to Louis and Caroline Rix Wendt. He attended the Lowden school and farmed in Jones and Cedar counties. He also drove a school bus for 4 years.

Mr. Wendt married Dorothy Burgess Feb. 14, 1929 at the Little Brown church in Nashua.

He was a member of the K.P. Lodge in Anamosa and the Jones County Farm Bureau.

Mr. Wendt is survived by his wife; a son, Leroy, Mechanicsville; 2 brothers, Ernest, Stanwood and Harry, Davenport; 2 sisters, Mrs. Charles (Alma) Boedeker and Mrs. Marvin (Esther) McCroskey, Tipton and 3 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
