Died at the home of his son, L. J. Leech, on the morning of January 23, 1901, at 3:15 a.m., of heart trouble after a short sickness, Thomas Leech, aged 85 years 5 months and 25 days. Was born in York Co. Pennsylvania, 1815, and moved with his parents to Columbiana Co. Ohio, in 1817; moved with his family to Iowa in 1855, settling near West Branch, where he has since resided.

He was married to Ellen Stratton Jan. 30, 1840, to whom five children were born, all of whom survive him. He was married to Elizabeth James on Nov. 10, 1854, and to Ann Dean, July 5, 1895.

Thus is removed another of the old landmarks and with his family the connecting link of the past with the present.

He maintained a firm faith to the church of his choice, believing that the will of his Heavenly Father was sufficient for the salvation of all.

Funeral will be held at Hickory Grove meeting house, Thursday, Jan. 24, 1901.
