Josephine Roberts, youngest daughter of Robert and Isabelle Roberts was born at Newport, Ind. on April 20th 1834 and departed this life Sept. 29th, 1917 at the age of 83 years, 5 months and 9 days.

The family came to Iowa when the deceased was two years old. On June 16th, 1851 she was united in marriage to Ziba Howard. To this union was born seven children, five sons and two daughters. Five of these, William, Willard, Hannah, Isabella and Robert having preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her loss one son, Geo. W. of Cedar Bluffs and one son, John Z. of Plato. Also twenty grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.

During her early life she united with the Presbyterian church to which she has remained faithful through all these years. She was a faithful wife, a kind and loving mother and a friend to all who knew her.

The services were held at the John Howard home Monday Oct. 1st at 2:00 o'clock Rev. Laura Townsend officiating and burial was made in the Howard cemetery.
