Mrs. Mary Bailey, wife of Joseph Bailey, died Saturday morning after a brief illness of pneumonia, at her home one mile south of town, aged nearly 70 years. Mrs. Baileys maiden name was Mary Chovey, she was born in 1827, near the city of Belleport, France, came to American in 1828 and lived in New Jersey where she was married to Joseph Bailey in 1845. In the year 1868 they moved to Iowa and settled where the home now is, near West Branch. Mrs. Bailey was an affectionate wife and a loving mother and very highly esteemed by all who knew her. She leaves a husband and three daughters to mourn their loss.

Funeral services were held at 11 o'clock Monday morning, conducted by Rev. G. H. Furniss.
