Mary A. Sullivan, was born in Dublin, Ireland, 8th month; 15th day, 1835, and departed this life, 11th month, 18th day, 1913; age 78 years, 3 months, 3 days.

She came to Cedar Co. in 1854, was united in marriage to Phillip Mattison in 1857. Unto them were born six children: Anna M. Enlow of West Branch; Nellie M. Mingus of Boise, Idaho; Charles of Butte, Montana; Edwin of Omaha, Nebraska; Clara, who died in infancy; and Harry of West Branch.

Since the death of her husband in 1898 she has still resided with her son, Harry and wife, on the old homestead where she has lived for 51 years. She was a devoted Christian, and a member of the Society of Friends.
