Martha Elizabeth Crozier, daughter of Johnathan and Phoebe Crozier, was born Feb. 8, 1857, near West Branch, Iowa. She was married to Peter J. Thomas Jan. 8th, 1879. To them three children were born: Ina C., Mervin J. and Jessie M.

Her death occurred August 19th, 1916 aged 59 years, 6 months and 11 days, being survived by her husband and children and one brother, J. L. Crozier of West Branch.

She lived the full span of human life, but above all and more than length of years was that beautiful Christian character which she carried within her every day life, an example which you and I, my friends, might earnestly follow.

Let us think that her dying eyes read a mystic meaning which only the rapt and parting soul may know. Let us believe that in the silence of the receeding world she heard the great waves breaking on the further shore, and felt already on her wasted brow the breath of Eternal Morning.

The funeral services were held at the home at 2:30 Monday afternoon with a large concourse of friends in attendance. Those from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Dodge, Mrs. Coral Lamborn and Joe Crozier from West Liberty, Edward Heald, Pearson Hall, Milton Shaw and Thomas Binns of Whittier, Iowa.
