Fern S. Todd Thomas, daughter of John and Mary Todd, was born April 12, 1891, at Alta, Iowa. She received her schooling in the Alta public schools.

On October 5, 1910, she was united in marriage to Harley Thomas at Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. For eight years their home was near LaJord, Saskatchewan, Canada. Then they moved to West Branch, Iowa, in March, 1920, residing there only one year before moving to Iowa City, where they have lived ever since.

She passed from this life early Monday morning, Sept. 15, 1924. She is survived by her husband, four children, William Minard, Clarence Donald, Clyde Alva, and John Melvin, father and mother, seven sisters and four brothers, all of whom reside in Canada, except one sister, Mrs. Ed. Erickson, of Dawson, Iowa.

Many friends and neighbors mourn the loss of Mrs. Thomas. To know her was to love her and her death has saddened many hearts.

The funeral service was conducted at the William Thomas home Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Leslie H. Barrett officiating.
