Mads Larson was born August 24, 1841, at Aalborg, Denmark, and passed away at his home in West Branch, Iowa, on January 24, 1924, at 9:30 a.m., at the age of 82 years and five months.

He taught school in Norway for a time, coming to America in 1874, since which his home has been at West Branch.

On January 1st, 1878, he was married to Sarah J. Staples. To them three children were born--Emma Coppock of Whittier, Iowa; James E. Larson and Birdie Eliza Moore, of this place, all of whom were with him when the Angel of Death came.
