29 April 1915 - West Branch Times

Ziba John Vincent son of John and Isabella Vincent was born in Cedar county, Iowa, Dec. 11, 1888. His glad spirit, like a caged bird, took its flight April 22, 1915, being 26 years 4 months and 11 days old. He was an invalid for three years with slow paralysis. Never once did he complain of his condition. When asked how he was feeling he would reply, "I would be all right if I could just walk."

"Much must be borne which is hard to bear;
Much given away which were sweet to keep.
God help us all! who need indeed his care;
And yet I know, the Shepard loves his sheep."

The earlier part of his life was spent on a farm near Plato from which he removed with his father to Centerdale. His mother departed this life June 16, 1896. Surviving are his father, two sisters, Josephine and Lucy, two brothers, Otto J. and Everett M., a half-sister Ruth and two half-brothers, Harold and Melvin also an aged grandmother Mrs. Josephine Howard.

The funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Congregational church at Centerdale in charge of Rev. John Frederick, pastor. Interment was at West Branch cemetery.
