Last rites for Bernhard Simon (Ben) Schroeder, 84, were held at the Dye Funeral home April 19 with the Rev. Dale Marshall officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Pallbearers were Kenneth Schroeder, Donald, Robert and Harold Hass, William Hass Jr., and Paul Reuter. George Thordsen was vocalist and Mrs. Arnold Swan was organist. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Reuter and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Thompson were in charge of flowers.

Mr. Schroeder died at St. Luke's hospital, Cedar Rapids, April 17.

The son of Wilhelm and Eliza Bohnsack Schroeder, he was born near Wilton Oct. 1, 1895 and received his education in the rural schools. He was married to Viola May Hass at the bride's home in Tipton March 7, 1917. They farmed near Mechanicsville until 1937, then moved to a farm near Tipton where they lived until 1958 when they retired and moved to Tipton. Mrs. Schroeder died in 1971.

Mr. Schroeder was a member of the United Church of Christ.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. Ruby B. Mitchell, Davenport and Mrs. John L. (Ruth) Rendall, Greenville, S.C.; 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, 2 brothers and a sister.
